Easy & enjoyable read. - Rated
Cute - easy read. Not a literary masterpiece or anything having to do with complex character development - just cute. Book talks about the differences between the French and British and the observations seem to be accurate and amusing.
I actually found the title to be the most intriguing element of the entire book. But, if you find yourself on a train heading for New York with hours to kill - this is an easy enjoyable read! There won't be any "Ah Ha!" moments, no great secrets revealed regarding how French women maintain their chic. If you don't expect too much you won't be disappointed and you'll enjoy this little book.
An easy lesson in chic! - Rated
This is not a serious book, and was never meant to be - it's fun, light hearted, intriguing and educational. Learn about French culture and French women and how they always manage to look amazing, yet seem to live on red wine and cheese! You'll never wear 'thousand wash grey' underwear again, you'll probably own more lotions and potions than Boots The Chemist, and you'll feel like shopping for a whole new sophisticated wardrobe - so what's new! After all that ladies it's enlightening, and easy to read, so for French fun and frolics grab a glass of Chablis and enjoy! I have recommended this to everyone and have bought two girlfriends a copy for Christmas. It is what it is, and I don't think will ever win the Nobel Prize but I loved it!

I've passed this book on to several friends who've all shared the same two words with me after having read it . . . "LOVE IT!". This book is easy and fun to read, insightful and honest.
For anyone who loves French sensibility, fashion, culture, etc., read this book! You'll love it too!

this book is great, so good ive read it twice and will undoubtedly read again! not only does it highlight cultural differences also provides great insight and tips into the world of french women, to underwear, fashion, food and behaviour. also points the good bits about being a brit too. even if not as aspiring french woman, there is still a great read as helena writes with such elegance and humour you cant help but enjoy. highley recommended

I am quite shocked to read peoples negatived comments to 2 Lipsticks. I bought it last year and have read it over and over since then. It's great fun, and quite honest. And far from tedious i found it to be quite a page turner. If you love glamor, style, fashion and different cultures it's wonderful. I couldn't care less about any of these things before but i find see them in a whole new way now. And this book isn't stereotypical or superficial, she observes the French culture only putting in her opinion in at the proper time so France isn't romanticized. I really really recommend this to any one looking for a glamor fix and good insight on such a rich culture.
