Wonderful resource for people considering freelance writing - Rated I read this book to give me an idea of what life would be like as a freelance writer. Linda Jones does not promise you that you'll make loads of money or make you think it will be easy to break into and then maintain a career in freelance writing. However, reading this book is like having a chat over a cup of coffee with a trusted friend. She shares successes and failures. Some of the helpful tips included are six of the best. She covers journalism, writing short stories for women's mags, blogging, keeping a website up to date. She provides helpful websites and books for further reading. Also covered are other types of freelance writing, such as copywriting and public relations material. While not an extensive guide, it is a very good starting place for any prospective freelance writer. If you only buy one book about writing . . . . - Rated An excellent book about starting out in the world of freelance writing for newspapers, magazines and the internet as well as lots of great tips for commercial writing - catalogues, press releases etc. There are plenty of good websites to look at, books to read and people and organisations to contact. It is small and compact, but full of information and advice, much of it from the author's own experience. If you're thinking of tackling freelance writing, buy this book first - it will either increase your enthusiasm or convince you that this type of work is not for you.
